Very poor article that did nothing to promote the rider, club or sport. Lost marketing opportunity for all. In my opinion there are several that could learn from the ‘Team Bickley’ promotional / marketing strategy. Spot on.4 points

I expect the "plenty" as you put it, don't ride here anymore and therefore are worthless, and those actually still riding here are next to worthless. Still I am sure Horton will attempt to sell whatever he has left, even if its for a tenner. As others have alluded, there is no way I will be giving him any of my money. This "sponsorship" money is just Brandon Estates way of using Horton as their "bitch" - and that's being polite - to the eventual demise of Coventry Speedway.4 points

More likely watching videos of all the thrashings that the Robins gave Poole last season & looking forward to doing it again this year!4 points

sounds like he spent a bit too much time with Holder and Batchelor last season and is adopting the attitude they have. now for the rest of his career nothing will ever be his fault4 points

Forgive me for my feelings towards Lambert, but to harp on about sponsors and equipment shows a lack of professionalism . When the season ends all top riders make the sponsorship business their first concern. They all want to be assured the deals are in place to cover most of the expected expenses. If someone like Lambert, who is regarded as the best English hope, is struggling for support, something is drastically amiss. However, probably it was my up-bringing , but airing ones washing in public is not the behaviour, you expect from a member of the exclusive top earners in the sport, and I feel this information should be kept private. Pleading poverty doesn't do the sport or anybody any good..3 points

Terms agreed with Pawlicki after getting permission from Wolves - just the outstanding question of what average he may still be re-assessed on?!3 points

Us as fans have every right to criticise a rider who has basically said I don’t want to ride here but I will because I have too! Would you want a rider like that in your team?3 points

It's about morals for me, it doesn't sit right with many people and it's a personal choice to make. Would I put another penny into the mans pocket ? no. The same problem with Coventry City and SISU and people don't go because of the owners. What is the charge for a NL meeting?? £10-12 maybe or go to watch speedway at the same track and not have to look at somebody who is destroying the club bit by bit. Leicester have a good team and it's not like last year when they were fighting the wooden spoon I think the majority will go and see a very "Bees" looking line up with Hans, Danny and Sarj. If the sponsorship is still on the table who knows but running at the level he is planning then the Coventry Storm team that will be lining up is not the same as Coventry Bees is not really worth the "sponsorship" in a brown envelope that he may or may not be getting. Time will tell on this and like somebody said on twitter its a personal choice to make and it doesn't make us better or worse for what we decide. I just know I don't want to see the man again, he was partly responsible for the mess we are in. He played games with Sandhu and he has done nothing to help just cause unnecessary problems. Nobody really wants him in charge, he isn't stupid and you only have to read here or facebook for the responses people give. If its not for greed then please if anybody has a valid reason for him doing so then please feel free to say so. So as they say on Dragons Den.. ....That's me out!3 points

I see him as another promising Brit who will fail to hit the heights, there have been many promising riders who have not developed, his attitude could see him join that club.3 points

Good place to hold it really....easy to get to and great race track....Looks like the line up is going to be pretty good to....all should add up to making a good bit of money for the fund.3 points

A rather childish attitude and in any case, there is nothing wrong with using old equipment, as long as it's maintained. So whose job is it to secure backing from sponsors? Maybe they like someone who has a positive outlook and the vision to look forward, plenty of heavily sponsored riders in the past who have only been moderately successful but have gone out and worked for the backing.3 points

Dont think anything that happened last year has any relevance to the staging of this meeting The only matter of importance is a large sum that will hopefully be raised for the Ben fund3 points

If that’s the case I’d have said bye bye if I was Buster - thought we was only signing riders with the right attitude? that’s gone out the window then - a fully committed 1-7 is what’s needed surely3 points

Agree with that.... The racing wasn't any better...just the fact I was younger and excited at watching bikes going fast and making plenty of noise....throw in a bigger crowd making more atmosphere...and it makes the past seem better.3 points

Dirty, dangerous, raw? I reckon in the modern world the dirty tag may not appeal to a broad spectrum of the public who do not know of speedway. Dangerous , probably accurate but so was Wall of Death and that has long gone. Raw - well if the racing were closer and more exciting it could be marketed as raw. As it is in the 21st century I am not sure if it has a place in motorcycle sport. And take it off the TV it will disappear entirely from public view. Fast, Furious and Never Give Up might be another way to sell it. But if people don't ever come across it, or hear of it, it doesn't matter what you call it!3 points

I have often wondered what people's Good and Bad speedway memories were in there time following there beloved sport..Five from each here goes. (Good) 1.Watching Briggs for four years awesome. 2.Adams v Crump jnr clashes. 3.Michael Lee winning the world final 4.Kenny Carter qualifying from the Oxford WC semi round 5.Michael Lee destroying Carter 4.0 in the two legged golden helmet. (Bad) 1.Briggs crashing out in the 1972 WF. 2.Gary Petersen. Kevin Holden. Tommy Jansson deaths i was at school then hard to take in. RIP. 3.Michael Lee ban. 4.John Berry not being made supremo for British speedway. 5. Kenny Carter /Billy Sanders suicides.2 points

Why would he risk injury riding against riders that he is superior to? Only the world champion was better than Morris last season and you wouldn't want riders like Brady Kurtz or Jack Holder riding out of control trying to take the coveted scalp of the second best Aussie in our top flight. sensible decision by Morris2 points

Don't think he is joking. I did hear that Matt was trying to get his average down. That's why I put the original post up yesterday. Still expect Sundstrom and Shanes though.2 points

The SCB didn't say that it was an opinion: "The panel also recommended no further action taken against Mr Rathbone, but the advice given by Mr Godfrey was both ill chosen and in Breach of Speedway Regulation 3.2.7." Rathbone asked for advice from a senior BSPA official regarding speedway's rules, so to plead ignorance when the brown stuff hits the fan because technically they are not our rules really is clutching at straws.2 points

If his average has changed that would be a disgrace as we disregarded him by being told he would have been 8 or 9, surely can't be allowed to happen2 points

There would be no complaints from me if there were no four point foreigners in the PL. Wouldn't want Jacobs or Auty but would take Perks, would have any of them if we were a CL team though. Which is what the discussion is about after all, these lads missing out on second division spots. Why should new foreign riders get spots before all the Brits who want a place are offered one?2 points

Exactly these. Lots if predictable OTT stuff on here but I quite like the honesty of the article. He's not saying he's not happy at Lynn, just that he thinks some time away will benefit his career and its hard to disagree. He is also bang on about the asset system. And the sponsorship bits are quite common this time of year, pretty much every rider is looking for backing. Glad he is back with the Stars, and he may well feel differently this time next year. If not he will go elsewhere with my best wishes.2 points

It's already been confirmed he will be a 9 (or 8) as a GP rider of 2017/2018. Only cheating will allow this to become a reality.2 points

It read to me as if this was a young, ambitious sportsman, keen to be all that he could be in his career. Give the guy a break! Nothing out of order in that article at all. I found it refreshingly honest, clear and considered. Look forward to watching him entertain us again in 2018.2 points

Reality setting in after touting himself to other clubs where sponsorship is good - but being turned down!!2 points

What is a matter with people? R Lambert is the best young prospect team GB have got so get off his back. Lewis Kerr was appealing for funds for bikes but no one jumped on his back. I am pleased Rob will be a Star again.2 points

The club is supposed to be breeding positivity ahead of 2018 season then this, a total smack in the face. Big time Charlie2 points

Is that article some sort of p155 take??? why would you want an over rated, jumped up tw@t of a primadonna in your team? He has basically said he doesnt want to ride for Kings Lynn but has no choice. Sorry but i cannot understand how people stick up for this guy.2 points

Where is your historical evidence to back up your claim? - please provide details of how many of the foreign newcomers to the second tier achieve an average of 7 in their first Season. The reality is that for both Scottish based clubs to attract promising English riders, who generally prefer to race for English CL teams, they require to offer a better financial package. Hence why Edinburgh in particular, try to recruit promising overseas riders within their budget. It may have escaped your notice that Monarchs remained loyal to Englishman Max Clegg whose final GSA in 2015 was 3.48 and only increased to 4.15 after three Seasons. The prerogative of any Promotion is to try to sign riders whom they consider will form part of a competitive team, irrespective of nationality. It would appear Monarchs were the only Promotion willing to sign Englishman Matt Williamson for 2018, so instead of frequently whining on the Edinburgh topic about teams, such as us, signing promising overseas riders, try and be more objective and take account of the geographical difficulties that some clubs encounter with regard to rider recruitment.2 points

Whatever his actions they were far less detrimental to British Speedway that the course taken by Holder and Rathbone....2 points

What you want to have, in order to keep fans entertained between races, is riders who are excluded standing on the track gesticulating at the ref. Fallen riders stomping over to the pits phone by the starting gate because they've been harshly excluded. None of this is allowed now. It should be encouraged.2 points

Just continually trying to improve things , making it in such a way to enable us to enjoy exciting and thrilling speedway . The track was too one line last season , the aim is to have a track that riders of both sides can attack and give the paying public the type of speedway to do justice to it's surroundings . No point having Chris Harris and not giving him the track to entertain us .1 point
