Ghostwalker
The winter is almost gone and a new season is upon us. After about a week and half, from Easter and forward, with warm and sunny weather. The past week have been mostly cold rainy and unfortunately this weather will continue. A warm front with rain will reach the west coast tomorrow and will move up over Sweden on Monday and Tuesday, The televised meeting will be Dackarna-Indianerna at Dackarna's track G&B arena. Here are the lineups for round 1 of Elitserien 2014: Dackarna – Indianerna #televised meeting Dackarna Nicki Pedersen Dennis Andersson Patryk Dudek Joonas Kylmäkorpi Michael Jepsen Jensen (K) Krzysztof Buckowski Robin Aspegren Aleksandr Loktaev Indianerna Fredrik Lindgren (K) Piotr Swiderski Niels-Kristian Iversen Antonio Lindbäck Piotr Protasiewicz Joel Andersson Mikael Max This will be a very very interesting meeting. Dackarna and have made some big changes for this season. They lost Lindgren to Indianerna and Darcy Ward to Piraterna. Both team have a history of bottling it in the play offs the past couple of seasons. Imo Dackarna are a bit weaker then last season while Indianerna is a bit stronger. Indianerna are missing Kenneth Bjerre who is out with a broken collarbone for a few weeks. This will probably go all the way to a last heat decider and I think Indianerna have a good chance of winning this meeting. Dackarna have a slightly stronger nr 6 & 7.while Indianerna have a stronger top 5. Race card for this meeting: http://www.mediafire.com/view/qjn2xv12c6ewjqa/ES.2014.R1.Dackarna-Indianerna.pdf Ikaros Smederna – Västervik: Ikaros Smederna Grigorij Laguta Mikkel Michelsen Peter Karlsson Grzegorz Zengota Kenni Larsen Magnus Zetterström (K) Oliver Berntzon Västervik Troy Batchelor Daniel Nermark Krzysztof Kasprzak Rune Holta Peter Ljung (K) Mathias Thörnblom Davey Watt Last seasons positive surprise were Smederna who managed to go all the way the semi-final where they lost to Piraterna who eventually won the gold. Smederna were heavily affected by injuries during the second half of the season with first Kenni and AJ out then AJ returned but PK injured himself before the semi-finals. Västervik have replaced Chris Harris with Krzysztof Kasprzak. Sebastien Aldén were replaced with Thörnblom in the team a couple of weeks ago since Aldén decided to retire, Västervik is stronger this year compared to last year while Smederna is a little weaker since AJ moved back home to Rospiggarna. It's hard to know where both teams stand. Smederna probably needs to win this meeting to avoid relegation. Piraterna – Vargarna Piraterna Greg Hancock (K) Linus Sundström Chris Holder Anton Rosén Bjarne Pedersen Simon Gustafsson Fredrik Engman Vargarna Martin Vaculik Daniel Davidsson (K) Peter Kildemand Artem Laguta Adrian Miedzinski Ricky Kling Pontus Aspgren Piraterna won the gold last year but decided to do a complete re-build. They had been able to continue with the same teams as last season but Pawlicki brothers, Davidsson brothers and Janowski did not get new contracts because Piraterna needed to make room for Darcy Ward. Piraterna are missing Darcy Ward who have problem with a knee injury. There will be allot of pressure on the home riders and I think Vargarna will provide fierce opposition. I wouldn't be surprised if Vargarna wins this one. Rospiggarna – Elit Vetlanda: Rospiggarna Andreas Jonsson (K) Jonas Davidsson Chris Harris Mads Korneliussen Grzegorz Walasek Timo Lahti Kim Nilsson Elit Vetlanda Emil Sayfutdinov Leon Madsen Jarek Hampel (K) Thomas H Jonasson Tai Woffinden Magnus Karlsson Jacob Thorssell Vetlanda most likely have one of the strongest squads ever in the history of Swedish speedway. With the team that they have they are clear favourites to win the gold and Rospiggarna should normally not be able to defeat such a team. Slightly stronger reserves for Rospiggarna though, So ladies and gentlemen start your engines. racers and royals
Thank you Ghostie-talking about relegation for your team before a wheel is turned-ye of little faith I think they can give Rospiggarna and Vastervik a run for their money. Västervik is a pretty good team this season so I don't expect them to be at the bottom end of the standings. Anyway, Dackarna announced that Michael Jepsen Jensen won't be able to ride and he is replaced by Krzysztof Buckowski

Ghostwalker
RR, MJJ didn't feel 100% fit after yesterday's meeting so Dackarna decided to use Buczek instead.
manchesterpaul
So looking forward to watching this Swedish season in HD on Eurosport, although must give a rightful thank you to Premier Sports for the years they gave us Only thing missing from Swedish meetings are what would surely be beautiful start line girls. Gee if it's a case of being deemed sexist then have four blokes prancing around on alternate heats and us men can divert our eyes lol. I wonder if MotoGP and F1 or any other motorsports have their girls available when staging meetings in Sweden? Ghostwalker i know you said the heat formats stay the same but do you know if the gate positions are also as before? Horrible news about the weather being iffy. Ghostwalker
We'll see if it's possible for the meeting to go ahead. It's currently raining in most parts of southern Sweden. The weather forecast says rain from the afternoon so perhaps the rain weather arrived earlier and it will pass in time for the meeting. http://www.smhi.se/vadret/nederbord-molnighet/radar-blixt-sverige-1.27021 http://www.smhi.se/vadret/nederbord-molnighet/radar-norden-1.27049 http://www.smhi.se/vadret/vadret-i-sverige/land/hourByHourTable.do;smhi_ppsessionid=-kh-VJ%2B%2BoslPWFS-Kpuv7%2BDG?starttime=2014-05-06%2007%3A41%3A55&endtime=2014-05-06%2022%3A00%3A00&geonameid=2693049 http://www.yr.no/sted/Sverige/Kalmar/M%C3%A5lilla/time_for_time.html Edited May 6, 2014 by Ghostwalker
krompa
Watt injured in England yesterday. Who's gonna step in? By the way it looks like only rain free meeting will be Rospi vs. Vetlanda. Edited May 6, 2014 by krompa
manchesterpaul
Watt injured in England yesterday. Who's gonna step in? By the way it looks like only rain free meeting will be Rospi vs. Vetlanda. According to his Twitter account around ten hours ago when asked if he would still be riding in Sweden today he reckoned that "I'm ok people. Just really sore. Got a stack of ice packs and will be good to go." Then again injuries are often worse the next day so we shall see.
manchesterpaul
Weather reports are not all uniform in their forecasts as to the amount of rain, but just in case it goes ahead and there are no further team changes or reshuffles i've put the racecard online now. I've got to go out for a few hours and anyone printing off from work etc on the continental mainland are one hour ahead so i might not be back in time for that. As ever any late changes i hear of will be applied. TV meeting racecard AVAILABLE NOW FREE MiniMax Racecard Elitserien Dackarna vs. Indianerna Tuesday, 6th, May, 2014 Awwww! do hope the first Eurosport broadcast of the Elitserien isn't blighted by rain-affected processional 'racing'. Might be best if it's called off! I don't know what reputation the Dackarna track staff have or how the track itself handles rain?

Ghostwalker
@MP, Dackarna track staff is pretty good but it doesn't matter how good they are if the rain does not stop. However I don't if it's raining there or not. There doesn't seems to be any official info regarding the matter although the radar images shows that there is a very light rain over Målilla. At the moment I think there will be racing on all tracks tonight. Also there seems to be some issues with Indianerna's team. the total average seems to be too high. According to Svemo's offical average list which was published after the previous season Freddie Lindgren's average is 1.855 but at the team listing page his average is 1.758 (which includes the play off, play off is not counted when calculating the official average.). A difference of almost 0,1 which would bring Indianerna over the limit by 0,017. Edited May 6, 2014 by Ghostwalker
