24th August 2013 Gp Challenge @ Poole

Recommended Posts

This should be a cracking meeting - it always surprised me the meeting wasn't covered by Sky as part of their GP package.

It falls on the August Bank Holiday Weekend so it might be wise to book up hotel/B&B accommodation early to avoid disappointment.

We've booked in with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who have their Colllege in Poole. They have rooms available to the public with all profits going to the RNLI. THe accommodation is only a short walk from the track.

Trip Advisor carries good reviews - worth a look.

Practice is on the day from 12 noon. Gates open to the public at 4pm (1600 hrs) with first race scheduled for 6.30pm (1830 hrs). Not sure what they will do about parking on a busy Bank Holiday Saturday as the main car park is usually full of shoppers??!!

With Kennett unlikely to qualify from his Holsted semi-final, and a British rider guaranteed a place in this meeting, is it safe to say Chris Harris, BSI's favourite charity pick, will get the Wild Card for Poole? It's not as if he's had enough chances so far...

Shame for Harris after one of his best meetings for a while. Would Woffinden be a wasted Wild Card from a British perspective or would the prospect of a British winner improve the crowd? Time to give a new rider (Cook?) a chance?

If Harris is ruled out with injury then i'd give it to cook.

Likely Bomber won't be able to ride as he broke his collarbone last night. That could change as riders ride with pain but unless he is nearly 100% he will have no chance on a trappers track like Poole.

Nothing against Cook but he's too young and didn't enter the qualification system. He also needs to grow up a little bit after mouthing off after being dropped & taking a heater off the wall at Ippo.

I'd give Scott Nicholls a chance as he is the 2nd best GB rider after Woofy and he did enter the qualifiers. He was out of form when knocked out by 1 point in Hungary but is riding far better now with good scores at most meetings.

Daniel King should get the wild card for this even though he is unlikely to qualify but apart from Tai Woffinden which British rider could cope with the GP's any way. Tai Woffinden getting the wild card would make it a better meeting and make sure that the top riders got through

Wouldn't bother with cook needs to grow up 1st and not good enough end ov

If we're going on riders who are 'good enough', the only remotely world class rider we have is Woffinden.

It's been said many a time, but Harris has had more than enough charity to last a life time. Even if he was fully fit, I wouldn't have satisfied his insatiable appetite for a Wild Card. I like Nicholls, but he's also had a few chances, and given his age and form, I don't think he's the answer.

Cook probably isn't ready to actually qualify from this meeting (only Woffinden would IMO), but he's the best of the rest and he certainly won't be short of confidence.

Give it to Danny King..................after the Cardiff wild card fiasco I am sure I heard Scott say he was no longer interested in competing at GP level................
