Would imagine all clubs are running on a limited budget just some more limited than others. One thing I would say that doesn't apply to Andrew is that he is very vocal. A generally unassuming guy who loves Speedway and achieved something worthy of praise. He has done this through sheer hard work and a shrewd business eye which has enabled him to acquire services and materials at a cost that has made the project achievable. He is probably not in a position where he can afford to suffer sizeable financial losses every season. He wants Championship level speedway to be sustainable while supply the fans with top entertaining racing in the process. The least we can do is support the club.I believe it is a 10 year project so don't understand why you feel it doesn't seem promising after only 2 seasons. At the very worst the future holds NDL racing.

Time to be more positive in your posts, get behind the comets and stop bitching about what if so and so signed. We have speedway for another year get behind the team, if you can put your hand in your pocket and do some sponsorship to help the promotion out UTC

There could be a lot of reasons on why the promotion chose Troy over Cookie. I wouldn't be surprised if it was down to wages though. Workington are running on a limited budget and Mr.Bains has been very vocal about backing the team and bringing the numbers in. I really hope speedway at Workington is here to stay for the foreseeable but it doesn't seem promising after only two seasons.

I knew the Mavericks team manager Pete Towersey well, and always sat with him at Wasps meetings, he had problems with Jamie Westacott's attitude to turning up regularly, inspite of others giving him as much support and help as possible, as witnessed below . Towersey is still waiting to hear from the rider although he has spoken to his upset father Fred. Towersey said: "Speedway is a team sport and this is just not acceptable - but until we hear from him we cannot make a judgement. I have tried to contact him but he is not answering his telephone." Westacott senior said: "I don't know what is going to happen but I have a feeling there could soon be speedway bikes and equipment for sale. I am very disappointed after all the work which has been done for him. "I would imagine that if he does get in touch with Newport then it may be too late. This could be the end. After this, I cannot see Tim Stone (promoter at Newport) wanting him back.
