On a 4 point average Lightyear is a no-brainer. He will make team building for 2027 a whole lot easier. 

On the subject or warming up tyres, surely the Start Marshall's should be calling that out to the Ref? When officiating any sport, you work as a team. ie Umpires in Cricket, Ref & Lina's in football etc.

If it's Craig Cook you're speaking of I doubt any sensible team would touch him with a bargepole 

IMO a good season too and the best league in UK to watch competitive speedway.  Before the season many on here had Scunthorpe as basement boys, and then they go and win it. So that is always nice when that happens.  I quite liked how the one over 8pt ruling panned out.  Still think the points limit is a shambles, when decent riders dont get a team place because the numbers dont fit is nothing short of village.  Introduce a grading system for heavens sake, imagine how much better the racing could be.

They had something similar in the PL in 2006. Eligible riders were given a grade of A, B or C, and teams could have A/C or B/B, no averages were involved. I think it lasted until July when Jon Armstrong and Steve Boxall were averaging about 6.5 and they scrapped it.  Similar to 2013 when they announced a scheme for all 10(!) EL clubs to have 2x NL riders at reserve. Then we had the fast-track scheme, and the rising stars after that. I suppose the takeaway is that it's no good getting worked up about any system, because it'll probably be consigned to history within 2 seasons max.
