Bristol and Newport didn't share. The Newport promotion moved the British League team and licence to Bristol in 1977 and ran the Newport Dragons at Somerton Park in the National League. Bristol kept the Friday race night with Newport running on Wednesday. Crowds were already declining at Newport, the change of race night and lower league didn't help, although the few times I went I thought the racing was entertaining.
