First of all hope Scott Nicholls injury isn’t too badly and he is back on a bike for the start of next season. A proper racer. The meeting was over and done as soon as Nicholls crashed. Oxford could never cover for him. Heeps rode very well though to be honest. Gilkes gave it a go but the rest were abject. All too easy for Pirates. Next week a going through the motions to about heat 9/10. Special mention for Vinnie Ford who was excellent and silenced those that abused him earlier on in the meeting. And for Tobias, who had a cracking meeting, the highlight beating Masters. -
He had a knock at the Championship league riders meeting, he had to lay the bike down or ride over Sam Masters whose chain/bike failed and spat him onto the track. Ashton damaged his knee, he pulled out of a few meetings and the ones he took part in were low scores. He then knocked the same knee a couple of weeks ago at Oxford hence withdrew from U19 championship. He is young and has only been racing for a couple of years and this is the first big knock/injury and it’s knocked his confidence a bit. It’s a shame really there was one heat tonight where he was clearly quicker than the Poole duo but was shutting off going into the bends, whether this was a confidence issue or he didn’t trust Vinnie Foord I don’t know.

It was a max when I posted it after he had three rides. -
2+1, 2+1, 2+1 , 0! I don’t think that is a paid maximum maybe after 3 heats but definitely not after a 0 from his fourth ride. Oxford were up against it with the loss of Luke and Jody last week, but with Scott’s crash it was game over! Well done to Poole better team on the night! But for the Oxford supporters of 4 young British lads to raise nearly £8000 for them was something quite incredible!
