You still don't know what you're talking about, because that was never the plan... -
When we had tracks in London, I regularly attended Wimbledon, Hackney and Crayford. You knew which night of the week they ran and didn't need to check the fixture list as they ran every week. Len Silver made a point of 'Make it a date, Friday at eight' and that is exactly what the fans did. The same weekly format was the norm throughout the country so it meant riders were on average racing one home and one away meeting every week during the season. How the promotions get things back to that is a major problem to which I don't have any real answers. Back in the 60s and 70s supporters would arrive in equal numbers for league, KO Cup, local derby challenges and individual meetings. These days many are only interested in league matches and don't even support a second team in a lower league (Oxford being a notable exception).

It's getting a little crazy now..it's not just the admission cost,it's the total package, for myself and spouse to go,looking at £50 +3.00 prog + 3.00 parking+5.00 fuel that's £61 before you even factor in any food and drink...that's 4.00 per race,6.00 if it's called off at HT 10.£61 for what equates to 15 mins of racing...value for money? I understand the overheads but....I rest my case,we for one won't be attending this season because of rising costs elsewhere.

Weeks ago I said that the Ipswich plan was for King to move on. And everyone said I didn't know what I was talking about. Maybe people are starting to see that I did indeed have the correct information at that time. Something clearly happened with the Rew situation, and Ipswich just went back to King instead. Did he just ask for more money, and Ipswich said no? Did he not want a Thursday race night and prefer Mondays at Brum? Is he giving Britain a miss altogether? Any of these could be possible. The only theory being put around that I find hard to believe is that Birmingham offered him more money to move away from Ipswich? Why would they do that? With Brennan going to Ipswich, it meant that either King, Ellis or Rew would have to go. If I were Birmingham, I would be looking to pick up whichever of those three was surplus, without the need to offer big money. In fact with little prospect of a place elsewhere, I'd be looking to get one of them on a cut-price deal. -

I certainly wouldn't pay 25 quid to watch speedway on that track, but I would at Belle Vue...
